Popular Silicon Valley tech blog LazyTechGuys (LTG) compared the iPad 2 to the original iPad on their most recent podcast, “Tabletmania.” Guest commenter Josh Padilla joins hosts Victor Bognot, Radford Castro and Sean Wilburn to discuss whether it’s worth upgrading or not. They say the iPad 2 is twice as fast, 33% thinner, and has new features like a front-facing camera for Facetime and improved speaker system. But they note that while the new iPad 2 offers some new improvements over the original iPad, it’s not so different from the old model that current iPad users will need to upgrade.

“When you want to see new technology, you definitely want to see a true evolution, a true step up,” says Josh Padilla, the special guest on the LTG podcast. “There’s nothing about the iPad 2 that says, ‘I gotta sell my iPad 1.’”

But one of the Lazy Tech Guys offers a rebuttal. “Even if some iPad 1 users may not want an iPad 2, there are many people who are interested and are glad they didn’t wait too long for a better, faster and thinner iPad,” says LTG’s Victor Bognot. “Don’t you agree? You can Facetime me once I get one. Oh yeah. You can’t.”

Padilla is unmoved by the new features of the iPad 2, and even makes the case that HP’s TouchPad will be the best new tablet coming on the market. He puts it plainly: “The question is this: does a person who owns an iPad 1 really care about the iPad 2? And the answer is no.”

The Lazy Tech Guys are known on their blog and podcasts for their blunt opinions on all things tech, which they intersperse with informal banter and humor.
